July 21 – Applying a healthy portion of enthusiasm

July 21. “Every production of genius must be the production of enthusiasm. (Benjamin Disraeli)

Yesterday I wrote about how this is going to be an odd week. I work on Monday and Friday, and have a 3 day vacation in the middle of the week to camp with my sons and another friend. I also mentioned that the mini-project I have at work is going to be challenging, and today will be especially so.

On top of all that, due to some odd circumstances, I got to bed about 1.5 hours later than normal. Then I had difficulty falling asleep, so my total night of sleep was only about 3.5 hours. I am tired this morning to be sure.

This morning’s quote could not be better timed. I don’t know if my work this week will be a production of genius, but I do know that if I want to get through the day, and get this mini-project off to the right start, I will have to apply an abundant helping of enthusiasm. Without enthusiasm I will drag through the meeting, work to play catch up on a tired day, then set out on a camping trip with a serious sleep and rest deficit.

With enthusiasm I will approach everything with a spring in my step, and a smile on my face. Today, as much as any in recent memory, I will be proving to myself the power of enthusiasm!
