January 13 – Turning dreams into reality

“Most people who fail in their dreams fail not from lack of ability but from lack of commitment.” (Zig Ziglar)

Like everyone else, I have dreams of things I wish to accomplish in my lifetime. Some are about my photography, some are about my writing. I have dreams of retiring with my wife and traveling the country to see the great sights.

This quote reminds me that I have the ability to realize any of the things I dare to dream. But, it also reminds me that only those to which I am willing to commit myself will become a reality. Only those for which I am willing to sacrifice, and put in the hours or years of work will become accomplishments.  And, I know from my “day job” that only those things which are planned can ever become a reality. Without a plan to deliver them, they remain only as flimsy and fleeting as the dreams I have as I am waking in the morning.

This quote inspires me to start writing down what my personal dreams are, and to start forming the plans that can take those I hold most cherished, and transform them into reality.
